MWPA Announces Grow The Game Fundraiser

The Michigan Water Polo Association has announced the beginning of a "Grow The Game," Fundraiser to address and serve several initiatives aimed at improving the quality and player experience of Water Polo in the state of Michigan.

We are aiming our sights at creating an elite player experience, recruiting and training new officials, offering resources to new coaches, and advancing the technology available to our officials. While these are broad based goals, we have specific actions we can take to address some of the many needs of our organization. - The MWPA Board

Some of the target initiatives funded by the campaign include:

• The hosting of State Championship Tournaments at the University of Michigan's Canham Natatorium - to mirror the Elite Championship experience provided by High School Men's Basketball (The Breslin Center), High School Football (Ford Field) and more.

• Hosting officiating clinics aimed at recruiting, training, and improving the quality and quantity of officials in Michigan.

• Hosting coaching clinics to grow the pool of quality coaching candidates as the MWPA eyes expansion.

• Purchasing wireless headsets for use Official's use at championship tournaments - in order to mirror other states in the region and allow for officials to effectively communicate in high leverage games.

• Addressing the need for state-wide Middle School Water Polo programs to grow the state's incoming player base at the key level by providing more playing opportunities.

• Website upkeep, postseason awards & team awards.
