The Michigan Water Polo Association (MWPA) will roll out the All-Region Awards next weekend (May 21-23) alongside the Regional Tournaments.
The weekend will open with the announcement of the regional coaches of the year on Friday (May 21) at 5 pm. Both boys and girls regional coaches of the year will be released at this time together.
On Saturday (May 22) at 10 am, the boys regional most valuable players will be announced ahead of the all-region first and second team and honorable mention groups which will take place at 11 am.
The following day, (May 23) at 10 am, the girls regional most valuable players will be announced ahead of the all-region first and second team and honorable mention groups, which will take place at 11 am.
MWPA fans are encouraged to tune in to michiganwaterpolo.com and our social media platforms (@MichWPA on Twitter and Instagram, /michiganwaterpolo on Facebook).
In the past, All-Region Awards were announced at the site of each tournament. With COVID, these will be announced virtually only to achieve a higher reach and greater publicity. Awards will be distributed to each team's head coach in the coming weeks for delivery.
Any questions can be directed towards our chat function in the bottom right corner of our website.
In the past there were All Region Tournament Teams and MVP. Will this happen for this year? I hope it will. What these kids have had to endure this year it would be a shame not to recognize more athletes for their tournament play.
For Boys Regionals, District 1, Colin McDowel would get my vote for MVP.
